How to remove from registry,

Problem: You removed an expansion/stupfpack from your computer, but for some reason it keeps on asking for the correct CD/DVD and you cannot re-install the game.
The most common reason for this is that the old programms were not removed in a correct manner. It should have been done as follows:
- Remove the programm via Software (Control-Panel of XP) or Programms and Parts (Control-panel of Vista), or do Start --> All Programms --> EA Games --> Name package --> Name package deinstall.
- Remove the folder of the deinstalled package from Program Files / EA Games
If for some reason this is not done properly, The Sims will still be settled in the registry of your computer and it will respond as if the expansion was not removed at all.
In that case you'll have to remove the registry-entry manually
- Keep Windowskey pressed down and type R
- In the small window now type regedit
- Look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and click it open
- Look for the folder Software and click it open
- Look for the folder EA GAMES and click it open
- Look for the expansion or stuffpack you wanted to delete, rightclick on it and select Delete
- Close the regedit window
- Re-start your computer
Explanation as to why your computer behaved strangely: In regedit click f.e. on the name of your highest expansion-pack You will notice on the bottom-line Suppressed Exe a row of .exe files that must be suppressed when starting the game. In this case all earlier expansion and stuff packs. The registry "forbids" the use of earlier exe files and continues to ask for the incorrectly removed expansion

The above table also explains why you sometimes have to play with the disk of a stuff-pack, as stuff-packs suppress the startfiles of The Sims, University, Nightlife and Open for Business. From Pets and above on, you always play with the highest expansionpack.
Mansion & Garden (stuff-pack) however acts as an expansion-pack and suppresses all other start-files.
