Installation problems,

The sims is a complicated game and there can be a number of reasons why thing can go wrong. 90% of the problems you can easily fix yourself:

CAN'T INSTALL

The pc doesn't regonize the CD/DVD:

  • Did the CD-player closed well?
  • Is the CD/DVD clean? (rub it with a soft, dry cloth - make non circleform shapes!)
  • Does your pc still regonize an other cd? No? Then the station is broke.

The pc does regonize the CD/DVD, but when you try to install nothing happens or it will ask for CD-1 while it's in your CD-station:

  • The expansion is already installed or not removed well

The installation gets 'stuck' halfway:

  • Be patient, often the installation gets 'stuck' at 7% and will go in one time to 45%
  • CD/DVD is dirty
  • Error: can't copy - CD/DVD dirty or damaged
  • Components-tranfer error: CD/DVD dirty or damaged / not enough free space
  • Do you have Administrator rights on the pc?

Installation gets 'stuck' at updating:

  • The starting file of your latest expansion has a NoCD-crack placed - put back the original files

You only get the message if you want to delete the expansion (VISTA):

  • Expansion is already installed
  • No Administration rights
  • An other program is blocking installation (anti-virus program or burning program)
try to unblock the game in your anti-virus program if not working then try to install it in save mode

There are 2 way to start in Save mode:

  1. Hold down "Windows" button and type R
Type "msconfig" in the window that pops-up and click "Ok"
Go to "Startup PC" and select "Startup in Save Mode"
    Click "Apply" and then "Ok"
    Restart your pc
Don't forget to deselect it again after installation!!!
  2. Restart your pc - before you see the Vista-thing - press F8 different number of times
